Khanani weds in Canaan: promise of love in the promised land

On the 14th of November 2009 in the land of Khumundu khumundu
otherwise known as Ingoho land, a tall dark handsome man got married
to an equally tall dark beautiful lady. I was privileged to see this
up close and candid and I bring you the story.
I take this early opportunity to thank Goddrick Khanani
and Edwin Okiah.. paparazzo of a kind.
Ladies and gentlemen I bring you

Josphat Cathelet Egesa Khanani and Phylis Ruth Nasirumbi
as they did their wedding in Mbale, Western.

In a land that flows with cool waters and green carpet of beauty....

In a land where the background obscures the actual picture....

A land full of maize, great vegetation and lovely people...

A breath taking black beauty was loved by
an equally breathtaking young man

In his excitement, the young man told his family
to get ready and look sharp so that they could take him
to a beautiful place to get a beautiful wife.

And true to form, they came as a huge delegation and in great pomp

And presented themselves to their in-laws...

Oh.. we've come from far far away to come get your daughter....

We have brought you beautiful flowers as gifts,

And we will ensure your daughter carries
loads and loads of scintillating paper jewelery.

The in-laws were not convinced so they said
"Acheni mchezo.. hebu bring REAL DOWRY"

Boy oh Boy..., wasn't my man shocked
As that was all he had...

But bless his heart, he has great mothers
who have been there before.
They had brought real dowry and gifts,

They displayed their brilliance in welcoming a daughter in law to be.
This impressed the in-laws and the wedding was granted.

THE D-DAY
Meet the boys tasked to escort the groom
The feather weights...

And the heavy weights...

A pentagonal team of Omundu strong...

The man himself, trying to catch a glimpse of the lady,
As she walks out of her mother's house...

He gives a lovely smile to the paparazzi to shoo them away

Before he goes back to trying to see the lady once again.

BREATHTAKING MOMENTS
Welcome to the action ring/venue
Dance dance flicks all around was the theme around here

Here the royal guest goes back to the dais
after inspecting the guard of honor

Then the good parts began...
the gent carries the flowers delicately,

To a beauty patiently waiting on the far end

On getting there, he surrenders the flowers,
hugs he, kisses her and leads her on
Wait... did they really do all that???
You be the judge, what does this picture tell you?

He however, hooks the lady on his arm..

And as he approaches the dais,
the next gent goes for the same duel
only with a different beauty...

Who is waiting patiently at the entrance...

Over and over the process was repeated

Then came the moment all were waiting for
The bride stepped out beautifuly
accompanied her her parents.

On the front was this flower girl
who was a flower herself...

The brides arrival caused a stir and
caught everyone's attention.
Notice how they tilt their heads to see her well

A moment that was worth
a standing ovation by all present.

I am sure that these vision 2030's started dreaming
About their weddings immediately.

The lovely lady was escorted to the royal dais

Where her man was patiently waiting

And his parents were there with him too...

And when she arrived....

Confirmations had to be done if she really was the one

She was sooooo breathtakingly beautiful
That Khanani's breath flew away for some moments

The lady had to assure him she still was the one ..
thinking his silence meant he couldn't recognize her...

And when the shock was over...

It was time to make give her the jewelery

And make her his forever...

Phylis did the honours too
but looked at him straight in the eye
as she made him her promise

The newly weds then went
to the dais to make it legal....

Notice how the lady is keen
to ensure the signature is real...

The she does her legal impression...

And though the man may sleep on the job,
Phylis is totally awake

Watching as all sign her first joint legal document.

Ladies and gentlemen presenting
Mr and Mrs, Josephat Cathelet E. Khanani

I think that calls for celebration..
and if you don't know the
Luhya tunes, bite your tongue

Or watch as the real Omundus
do their dance flicks

YUMMY YUMMY MOMENTS
Time to eat..
Wow.. this was a totally fantastic cake

Let's try to view it from another angle...

The first shared family duty...

Jesus: Khanani.. do you love me
Khanani: Of course of course of course
Jesus: Feed my daughter
Khanani: With pleasure

And the beutiful girl is tasked
with the same responsibility.

They shared the drinks

That must have been sweet...

The couple:Psssst...can we pleeeeeease eat enough
before we share with the others
we are hungry
Cake Matron: Relax ... there's so much food
mtakula mlale

I guess the matron was right..
walikula wakalala

And so the sharing journey started..
with the broken munchies

And the whole gifts cake pieces

I wonder how they convinced mother-in-law
that this was a cake and not a market basket

KUNJIVINJARI TIME
After the foods and drinks.
It was time for Mugithi dance..
Khanani and Phylis on the steering wheel

I loved the Luhya mugithi...
it actually carries cargo/goods/gifts
unlike the others where we dance empty handed

A jig for everyone

VIP EXCLUSIVES
Few get access to these ... here you have it
The newly weds on glittering
"yokes" of love...tied together forever.
Oh do the decorations ring a bell...
....prenuptial gifts...

And these human flowers coloured
the grounds they walked on... literally

Watching the sunset has never been this beautiful...
cool don't you agree?

My oh my what a nice arrangement...

If this doesn't take your breath away,
nothing will.

Any family man must prove that he's capable
of carrying out his marital obligations comfortably

Any guesses....

OK let's try a new position.....

No words needed.

SIDE SHOWS
Moving on swiftly to other things that matter in life
Let's study men closely
Maybe you have wondered how men really are..

They can really get lost on thoughts,
a day before their wedding

And when the day comes, oooh the sweetness
(notice how we bite our tongues in anticipation)

If you thought men can't multi task, check your facts again,
we can talk on phone, while taking tea.
We can look at a candle whilst listening to the television.
Yes and we can still be able to put a smile for the camera.
Men can multitask... END OF DISCUSSION

We do press-ups and muscle stretch
before we practise for the groom's matching song...
talk about doing things with passion

And then we do practise with zeal and seriousness it deserves

Of course there are those who have two left feet
and never get the moves right...
you show them even to the last minute
and just when you think they got it right,

They give you a blank stare
and mess all over again..
we call them "anti-nyitas"...
Gosh they can only do it right
if they are taken to boarding school!!!!

Yep.. as you can see,
we men are really not complicated creatures

CAMERA FREAKS vs CAMERA TRICKS
What is it with people and weird camera poses...
check this out
What's up with the pointing

What's up with face shielding?

OK at this juncture it's totally creepy...
what's up with the hands

Now that these two have graduated
to new levels of love we wish them well
as they touch the grounds of marriage.

Now we await the next big attraction...
I wonder who it will be

Here is one of the many people who are accredited
with bringing this story to life.
Godrick Khanani and Edwin Okiah...
nyinyi ni watu wa Nguvu....

CLOSING MOMENTS
There you have it, the good times in Mbale for Josephat and Phylis in their Canaan ofLove.
We wish them well.
More posts are coming for some few other weddings.

Karen at Karen

I have attended many weddings and witnessed many
works of human joinery. But allow me to be biased
for once. This was my best wedding so far.
It was so full of life, music laughter and tangible joy.
What is more amazing was the sparkling life that
one Titus Kimanthi put on as he wedded his
sweetheart Karen Ndunge.
I want to make a deal with you. If you come across a
photo where Titus is not smiling, call me up, point it out
and I promise I will buy you coffee at your place of choice!!!
I am not kidding

Let,s go to Karen to meet Karen,
Prince.

Of fame and fireworks
NPC Karen was where the action was.
Karen caring grounds cared for Karen's
raring future.

Oh boy, it was total fireworks around here

As our tantalizing bride, Karen stepped out in style

On the other hand, an overly overjoyed
Titus Kimanthi
was all smiles for the day

Luckily for him, One Isaack Kyalo was there
to steady him and keep him focused on the
issue at hand...

And Mrs. Elizabeth Kyalo was on the other hand
graciously leading Karen down the last
embers of spinsterhood.

Cream cropped angel look like maidens
Sat on the trenches of the royal Court

With their male counterparts, gracing the
opposite seats of the royal tapestry.

Queen's Queuing Cues
We know that Music fills the royal halls and
here it was no exception.

She may not be a ballet dancer, but her
presence is significant as she is the right
hand woman(read wife) of the Royal Majesty
(read pastort) that joined this wedding:
Mrs. Salome Ngare

Royal Procession
A bidding accord for a life time was signed

And presented to the new born family
by the royal operations director:
Pastor Edwin Ngare

Mementos of Momentous Moments
Broad smile was the hallmark and epitome
of joy as Titus finally got the go ahead to
Kiss the bride...

And once a man has tasted the fruit of his love,
What do you expect him to do...

He will be howling and bubbling
with joy all day and night

He will dance like never before, from
hip hop moves...

To complicated Kamba styles,

And since laughter is infectious,

Every one falls into step and does a jig,

Ooooh the passion is clearly
visible on everyone's face

Tell you what, if my wedding
will have such tremendous joy,
dance and enthralling moments:
..... I am getting married next month!!....

Coz I know I won't leave empty handed.

Wedding Drama
Meet the most excellent Kamba Spokesman
I have ever witnessed. I am suing him after this
coz of making my ribs hurt coz of laughing.
Could anyone please connect me to a lawyer
who can take on a humour litigation

Why is it that everyone tries to look if
his name is on the couples line up of groom's
men and women??

Hey mean can you see what am seeing??
People, hmm I introduce you to a new way
of catching your friends attention.
Strangle him or her...

Let's see how imaginative you can be.
Picture these as a video and it is in slow
motion mode. What do you get???
Sound of Music Season II!!

Cautionary Quotients
Now we all know that dancing is
lively livening for life

Constant practise to get
perfection is important

And experienced couples are
even more lovely to watch as
they pull their moves...

But always be careful as to who
is watching, coz you might give them
a heart attack, or alternatively,

They might give you a standing ovation.

Well well well we know that eating
large potions of the word of God,

Can make someone very very happy

Going green is now a global concept
and one lady is immortalizing this concept,
Check her goggles, her top, her hands and
her background....

Ok I am not saying anything at all

I wonder what mother-in-law
whispered into her ear,

I know for sure it had something to do
with carrying marital obligations,

Maybe she told her about what Titus'
concept of a wardrobe is... the floor

And how the a simple 'kiondo'
could rectify that misconcept.
"Mwambie awe akiweka nguo hapa..."

Or maybe she pointed out how
girls' have got daddy issues that
should be looked into..

Or maybe she was being adviced
how to care for her 'boys'

Or probably she told her
how not to use a pot...
"Never cook flowers for my boy"

Culinary Delights Well if you missed, you missed
lot's of classy tasty munching

You never witnessed the beautiful
embroidery on the saliva taking cake

And of course you missed seeing
off the couple as the flew away
to their honeymoon

Of tricks and tactics...
As I always say, weddings is a fertile ground for initial
contact with a prospective partner for the singles

Let those who have an ear hear
what the Prince says to the singles

There you meet those who will walk
down the isle in the near future

And for those who are really far sighted and
visionary,You can make bookings for
vision 20:30

Tactical Attack
So how do you go about it?
Well be the gentleman and give
her the last biting on your plate

Some of them will be very
savvy and very classy

So ensure you match her deed for deed,
word for word, accessory for accessory

Case Study
Below is an illustration of How to
finally get it and actualize the teachings.

The Sampling Technique:
First, scan the one in valentine
colour theme and makes a joke
that she will laugh to...

Alternatively, humour the one who will
give you an absolute belly laughter,

An even better way is to sample one
who you will laugh together coz that
is the key to love and life.
NB: The models appearing above were highly paid to pose in
the photos and so they are just actors not real life story people.

The next big attraction???
I don't know...

My bests...
Wasee waseee... Let's look
for Wahi Kuwahi in these
bottle tops... he he he

In case you didn't get your photo
during that day. I did you a favour,
so just identify it and I will sell it to you

Yes this is the culprit that brought you the story
If I receive another threatening email ati I don't
post myself on the blog, well, here am I.

Close Calls:
That was Titus and Karen confiscating their single hood in
exchange for a double-in-one kind of life.
We wish them all the best in life.

Like it? Leave a comment. Am out,
Prince
